Sissy x Rodney

Background: Sissy is from the practically famous Janet Hickner 1999 clutch nicknamed the "Golden Glowworms". Rodney is a male from a Biak outcross pairing also by Janet Hickner. This pair has succesfully bred before producing stunning high yellow and tricolor offspring.

Introduction date: Introduced Rodney to Sissy's cage 11/6/05.

Updates: 11/6/05 Long copulation upon introduction.
11/23/05 Sissy shed.
12/7/05 Many copulations still being observed.
1/20/06 Sissy eating voraciously. Copulations less frequent.
2/4/06 Both Sissy and Rodney in shed so I moved Rodney back into his cage. Evening temperatures increased back into the mid-70's.
3/1/06 Started dropping evening temperatures down again.
3/16/06 Returned Rodney to Sissy's cage.
5/8/06 Sissy released food twice before eating. This is not like her at all.
5/20/06 Sissy refused food.
6/4/06 Sissy is a very light blue and looking very swollen.
6/18/06 Sissy is grounded and not looking comfortable.
6/20- 6/22/06 Ovulation

Pre-lay shed: 7/13/06

Eggs deposited: 27 fertile eggs and three slugs laid on 7/29/06.

Update 9/6/06: We've lost power 4 times since Sissy laid these eggs, so I've been thankful for our generator! I had to switch out a thermostat that failed and I've had three eggs go bad. The other 24 eggs are going strong and showing dimpling now with less than two weeks left to go.

Expected hatch date: Week of September 17th.

9/17/06 hatching began:

Babies on camera

Clutch Update 11/5/06: 18 babies survived and are well on their way to becoming good feeders. They are fiestly little ones that ranged in weight from 12g to over 17g as newly hatched neonates.

Clutch Update 2/12/07: Several babies started showing color changes at three months old! All the babies are doing great and several have gone to new homes. Please see the 2006 family portrait page for a picture of the entire clutch.
