My name is Kimberly Burge and I have been passionate about animals from an early age. My Dad encouraged my fascination while my Mom tried to ignore the snakes kept under my bed and in our trash cans. My parents never encouraged me to keep wild animals but rather to observe and learn to take care of them and then release them. It wasn't until middle school when I became a Junior Curator at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences that I kept exotic animals as pets. If there was an animal in need of a home, I was the first to volunteer to give it one. While I love all animals, my true passion is for reptiles and amphibians. I attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia where I obtained my BS in Biology. While herpetology was not an option at SBC, I chose the local herp populations as study subjects for my research and photography.
Since I was a child, I had always wanted "one of those green snakes that had perfectly looped coils around branches." Two sub-adult green tree pythons became available while I was working in the living collections department at the museum and thanks to the herpetologist at the time, Dave Davenport, (okay, I begged him!) I was able to bring these two beauties home. There's no turning back once you have one! My collection is growing as is my passion for these snakes.
My goal is to produce quality captive born and bred green tree pythons. Ideally, my aim is to provide chondros for the beginner chondro keeper along with also producing animals that the discerning collector/breeder will want to add to their collection.
I live in NC with my Australian husband, Christian, my German Shepherd, Jet, and a few other critters. I work as a wildlife conservation educator for the state of North Carolina, I am the webmaster for the NC Herpetological Society, and I'm actively involved with the society and NCPARC. My longtime passion for horseback riding/teaching, spending time with my husband, and getting outside to poke around with my herp stick and camera pretty much takes up the rest of my time.
I hope you enjoy your time visiting my site. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
