Aru-type Chondros
Aru Island is the main island in a group of islands located off the northwestern coast of Irian Jaya. Chondros from this area are known for their blue-green or rich green bodies with white scales scattered down their dorsum. It is not unusual for some Aru-types to have blue blotches and stripes along with blue ventral scales. Aru's are known for their short, very blunt tipped tails.
This race of chondros are known for their docile temperament. Aru chondros are less likely to be imported because their native habitat is still dense and lush, unlike other locations, and are therefore more difficult to collect. (Maxwell 2006)*

Arus in the wild tend to be a deep green with a multitude of white and blue scales that have proved to be difficult to produce in captivity. F1 generations tend to be lighter green overall with very few white scales. Therefore, high white Arus are a prized possession.
