Sorong-type Chondros
Sorong-type chondros are referred to as a mainland population because they are found on the mainland of Irian Jaya. The city of Sorong is located along the western coast of the Vogelkop Peninsula that attaches to the Northwestern tip of the mainland of Irian Jaya. There are many different "mainland" locales that have been described and may be included in the Sorong-type description including Manokwari, Arfak, and Nabire. (Maxwell 2006)*
Sorong-type chondros are a "classic" looking chondro with nice green bodies and a blue dorsal stripe and triangles that extend all the way down their bodies. They usually have a small head and short snout and a darkly pigmented, medium length tail.

Sorong-types are usually mellow and easy to handle. The intensity and amount of blue varies greatly with this locale but since blue is such a popular color on a chondro, they are well-liked by most keepers.
